Become a Team Manager

Becoming a Team Manager is a great way to play an active role in the Tigers and is essential to the smooth running of a team. If you’re interested or are already a Team Manager, we’ve put together a few responsibilities and tips to help you in the role:

  • Working with Children Checks 

    All team managers need a Working with Children Card. This is a legal requirement Tigers must comply with. 

    If you have one already could you please forward the number (usually 10 digits) to info@tigersnetballclub.com.au. If you do not already have one, you need to apply/obtain one. To do this, log on to:

    Follow the instructions given. Please note: when filling out your online form, make sure you select the ‘volunteer check’ as you are volunteering to be our Team Manager; and the check will be free of charge for volunteers. When you receive confirmation of approval (usually about a week after you present your proof of ID at a post office), forward the no. to info@tigersnetballclub.com.au. 

  • Team Lists & Details 

    You will have been sent a team list with players details that includes: names, date of birth, Victorian Netball Association numbers, parent email, parent mobile numbers, and the coach’s contact details. This is for your usage to contact players/parents on coach’s behalf in preparation for match days or for any other purpose as directed by your team’s coach. It is suggested you have easy access to this list on match days. 

  • Team Management 

    To assist Team Managers coordinating team members and their families we recommend you download the “WhatsApp” app to your mobile. WhatsApp makes it easy to manage and communicate with your team for training and games. Players manage their availability and duties, coaches & managers can roster or transfer players and communicate all at once with the whole team.

  • Training and Game Day Responsibilities 

    Each coach and team manager has the ability to allocate a scorer on game day. Please ensure that everybody on your team has the Netball Connect App. Players taking the court must be recorded in Netball Connect which opens up 30 minutes prior to the game. If we are the home team then a scorer needs to be allocated in Netball Connect and the scorer must accept this duty prior to game day. The scorer needs to have their phone fully charged on game day to be able to do live scoring. If we are the away team then the rostered scorer is to stand next to the scorer for the home team to ensure that scores are being recorded correctly.

  • Team Functions 

    It is encouraged that teams hold a social event early in the season to assist team members bond. It is also a great opportunity to meet players’ parents, who are a great source of help throughout the year to assist with logistics. 

    You are welcome to organise a team gift for your coach at the end of the season if you wish.
